DatabaseDefrag: The app does not display any messages to tell the user that the index rebuild is finished.

description

Environment:

1. Win2k3 ENT ENU
2. Yukon DEV ENU 09.06.1399.06
  1. Sample MSI 60410
    4. Whidbey 8.0.50727.42

Steps:

  1. Run DatabaseDefrag.exe.
  2. The window "Connect to SQL Server..." pops up ,and then connect the SQL server instance by default.
  3. The window "Defragment Database" pops up, click Defragment button.
  4. Check the defragment results.

Expections:

  1. The rebuilded indexes should be listed.
  2. The rebuilding complete messages should be displayed at the end.

Actual Results:

Only listed rebuilded indexes, but does not display the rebuilding complete messages. For more details, pls check the attached pic.

Comments:

If operate on a null database, the user would think this sample does not work since there are no index to rebuild. I think it's better to add rebuild complete messages to tell the operation has been completed just like the sample RebuildAllIndexes.

  1. Add a new string 'Completed' in Resources.resx both in CS and VB solution
  2. Added the followed code on  Line 146 of DatabaseDefrag.cs:
            richTextBox1.AppendText(Properties.Resources.Completed);
Added the followed code on  Line 123 of DatabaseDefrag.vb:
            richTextBox1.AppendText(My.Resources.Completed)
